Remodels

Remodel Wiring in Duvall

The electrical on a remodel is rarely the hard part. Being there on the right day is.

A kitchen mid-renovation with cabinets covered in protective sheeting

Wiring that fits the room you are actually building

A remodel gives you one window where the walls are open, and it closes. Miss it and you are either cutting drywall later or living with a layout that was decided by where the old wiring happened to run. We would rather see the plans before demolition than after. Twenty minutes with the drawings tells us how many circuits the new kitchen needs, whether the existing feed can carry it, where the lighting wants to be switched from, and which decisions you need to make early because they are expensive to change once the rock is up.

What the job includes

A planning session on the drawings

Circuit count, panel capacity, switching layout and device locations settled before anything is demolished.

Rough-in while the walls are open

Boxes set, cable run and secured, and everything positioned for the cabinetry and fixtures you have actually chosen.

Coordination with the other trades

We work to the schedule the plumber and the drywaller are working to, so the rough inspection does not hold everyone up.

Trim-out and final testing

Devices, plates and fixtures fitted at the end, everything tested, and the panel relabelled to match the new layout.

Call us at this point, not later

The drawings are nearly final

This is the cheapest moment to change anything electrical. After demolition it gets more expensive; after drywall, far more.

You are moving the kitchen

Appliance locations drive circuit layout entirely. A range that moves two metres can change what the feed has to be.

The basement is being finished

Finished space has different requirements from storage space, and the existing circuits down there were almost certainly never intended to carry rooms.

Your contractor wants a sparky on the schedule

We will give them real dates and keep them, which is usually the whole reason they are asking.

How the work runs

01

Read the plans

We look at the drawings with you and flag the electrical decisions that have to be made early.

02

Quote the scope

A written number against a defined circuit list, so later changes are visible rather than buried.

03

Rough-in

Run while the walls are open, then the rough inspection before anything is covered.

04

Trim-out

Devices and fixtures in at the end, tested, labelled and handed over.

Questions about this work

How far ahead should I book?

As soon as the drawings are close. We can usually fit a rough-in into an existing schedule, but the earlier you are on it the more the dates work around your build rather than ours.

Will the existing panel cope with a bigger kitchen?

Sometimes yes. A modern kitchen wants several dedicated circuits, and in an older valley house that is often where the capacity runs out. We check at the planning stage so it is a decision, not a surprise.

Can you work around our other trades?

That is most of the job. We plan rough-in so the inspection clears before the drywall crew arrives, and we come back for trim-out once the finishes are in.
